Coding on the Mountain

Shades Mountain students love to code! The Hour of Code week was celebrated in classrooms with students using www.code.org/learn tutorials and activities. Moana was a favorite this year! Apps such as Kodable, The Foos, and Move the Turtle were also a hit in kindergarten through second grade. Third grade used the Innovation Zone to program Dash to dance around a Christmas Tree. Dash also learned how to “ice skate” by taping a marker to the robot and programming it to draw shapes on paper using Blockly. Students in grades second through fifth enjoyed speakers from Daxko who talked about the importance of coding in their jobs complete with a demonstration on how to code in Minecraft.
